Developing pedagogy and experiential education for a design studio course for non-Design major students utilizing a blended learning platform

Description

This project proposes to investigate design pedagogy and experiential education challenges in teaching and learning through the lens of students’ experiences with DESN1010 (formerly YSND1010) Introduction to Design: Practices and Appreciation, is a fully online course for non-Design major students. In my enquiries, I will consult the existing research on online design education and make recommendations on the type(s) of digital environment(s) that could complement traditional design studio education at York. The project will advance our knowledge of eLearning and Experiential Education and take a practical step towards democratizing design education at York for all undergrad students. The key project output will be the foundation of the redesigned DESN1010, a course that utilizes a progressive blended learning model.
